Activities of Daily Living Dependence Independence Range of Motion Stroke
Abstract
Background: Stroke patients often experience a decline in their ability to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADL) due to impaired motor function. Range of Motion (ROM) therapy is a non-pharmacological intervention that can help improve motor function and independence in stroke patients.
Purpose: To determine the effect of ROM therapy on ADL ability in stroke patients.
Method: This study employed a quantitative, quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group approach. The independent variable was ROM therapy, while the dependent variable was the ADL ability of stroke patients. The sample consisted of 36 respondents selected via purposive sampling. The study was conducted from March to May 2026. Data were collected using the Barthel Index observation sheet and subsequently analyzed using the Wilcoxon test, paired t-test, and Mann-Whitney U test.
Results: Research indicates an effect of ROM therapy on ADL ability in stroke patients, with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05).
Conclusion: This study demonstrates that ROM therapy contributes to improved ADL capabilities in stroke patients.
