Case distribution Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) Epidemiological surveillance Risk factors

Abstract

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an arbovirus infectious disease transmitted through the bite of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, becoming a significant public health problem in tropical and subtropical regions, including Indonesia.

Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of the DHF surveillance system at the Brebes District Health Office.

Method: This study used a descriptive design with an observational and cross-sectional approach, with respondents implementing the DHF program at the Brebes District Health Office. Data collection was carried out by requesting data from related officers, and data analysis was carried out descriptively by comparing the research results with theory and/or program guidelines.

Results: The results showed significant variations in the number of DHF cases between sub-districts in Brebes Regency. The sub-district with the highest number of DHF cases was Banjarharjo with 498 cases, followed by Wanasari (289 cases), Brebes (277 cases), and Losari (194 cases). In contrast, Salem District recorded the lowest number of cases, namely 20 cases.

Conclusion: This study clearly identifies a significant disparity in the distribution of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases across the districts of Brebes Regency in 2024. This variation represents more than just a difference in figures; it reflects the complexity of the factors influencing the spread of the disease at the local level.
