Body Temperature Hemodynamic Status General Anesthesia Hypothermia Warming Lamp

Abstract

Background: Hypothermia is defined as a core body temperature below 35°C. Perioperative hypothermia can be influenced by factors such as the type of anesthesia. Interventions that can be used to prevent hypothermia include active warming methods, such as infrared heating lamps.

Purpose: to report the implementation of evidence-based practice using heating lamps on the hemodynamic status of postoperative patients under general anesthesia.

Results: Following a 15-minute intervention with a warming lamp, there was an increase in patients’ body temperature, with a 1°C difference from the average temperature before and after the intervention.

Conclusion: Based on the three case reports, it was concluded that the use of a heating lamp can increase the body temperature of postoperative patients as a means of preventing postoperative hypothermia. This intervention can be integrated as a standard practice for the prevention of postoperative hypothermia.
