Cryoterapi Oral Kemoterapi Mukositis
Abstract
Background: Mucositis is one of the most common complications experienced by cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Effective management strategies are needed to reduce the severity of mucositis and improve patient quality of life.
Purpose: To determine the effect of Oral Cryotherapy in reducing chemotherapy-induced mucositis in cancer patients.
Method: A quasi-experimental design with a pre-post-test approach with a control group was used. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, involving 34 participants: 17 in the intervention group and 17 in the control group. Mucositis severity was measured using the Oral Assessment Guide (OAG). Data analysis was performed using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney test.
Results: Oral Cryotherapy was significantly effective in reducing the severity of chemotherapy-induced mucositis in cancer patients (p = 0.00; α = 0.05).
Conclusion: Oral cryotherapy is an effective non-pharmacological intervention for reducing chemotherapy-induced mucositis in cancer patients and can therefore be considered as part of supportive care in oncology nursing practice.
Keywords: Chemotherapy; Mucositis; Oral cryotherapy.
Metode: Desain quasi-eksperimen dengan pendekatan pre–post-test with control group.
