Electronic Medical Records Interdisciplinary Communication Medical Rehabilitation
Abstract
Background: Medical rehabilitation services require effective interdisciplinary communication, as they involve various health professions in patient assessment and care planning. Inadequate communication can fragment team coordination.
Purpose: To analyze the role of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) in enhancing interdisciplinary communication within medical rehabilitation.
Method: A literature review design using the PICO approach was employed, involving a search for articles in Indonesian and English (2011–2025) across PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect.
Results: EMRs serve as an integrated information infrastructure that improves information sharing, visibility, and decision support, particularly through features tailored to clinical needs. However, significant barriers remain, such as the illusion of communication and low interoperability.
Conclusion: EMRs are strategic tools for improving rehabilitation outcomes, provided they are designed for interoperability and supported by a collaborative culture.
Keywords: Electronic Medical Records; Interdisciplinary Communication; Medical Rehabilitation.
