Fasting Blood Glucose Prolanis Sleep Quality Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Abstract
Background: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic disease that requires optimal glycemic management. Sleep quality is one of the factors that may be associated with blood glucose regulation, particularly among older adults with T2DM. Purpose: To analyze the relationship between sleep quality and fasting blood glucose levels among patients with T2DM participating in the Chronic Disease Management Program (Prolanis) at Pandanaran Community Health Center. Method: This study employed a quantitative correlational design. A total of 170 patients with T2DM were selected using purposive sampling. The relationship between sleep quality and fasting blood glucose levels was analyzed using the Pearson correlation test. Results: Most respondents were aged 60–69 years (51.9%), female (75.9%), had primary-level education (51.9%), were unemployed (75.0%), and had been diagnosed with T2DM for more than five years (79.6%). Nearly half of the respondents had poor sleep quality (46.3%), while 50.9% had controlled fasting blood glucose levels. Pearson correlation analysis demonstrated a significant positive moderate correlation between sleep quality and fasting blood glucose levels (r=0.401; p<0.001). This finding indicates that poorer sleep quality was associated with higher fasting blood glucose levels. Conclusion: There was a significant positive moderate correlation between sleep quality and fasting blood glucose levels among patients with T2DM participating in the Prolanis program at Pandanaran Community Health Center. Sleep quality should therefore be considered as an important aspect of comprehensive T2DM management in primary healthcare settings.Downloads
